Angkor holidays are what you need to get around at one of the most important historical sites in all of Southeast Asia. The Angkor Archaeological Park is a 400 square kilometer area where the ruins of several capitals of the Khmer Empire were built. The magnificent Angkor Wat temple is one of the structures that can be visited while on Angkor tours.
Angkor has flourished since the UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in the 1990s. Angkor travel packages help in unraveling the secrets of this mysterious place. Many of the temples seen by travelers who purchase Angkor holiday packages were built in the Hindu style. What add to the aura of mystery that surrounds the site are the huge water reservoirs.
Getting around during an Angkor tour is easy: you can take a ride on the tour buses, hire cars or motorcycles or even get into a tuk-tuk. But bicycles are the mode of transport that remains a favorite among those who travel to this place. Stay in any of the hotels and guest houses that have opened recently while on the trip to this place. Visitors who picked Angkor vacation packages are often seen relaxing at the very modern Angkor Cafe.
There are various Angkor tourism packages to choose from. Before selecting a package, it is important that one is clear about the area they wish to cover and the amount of time he/she wishes to spend in Cambodia. The basic winter package in the tourist season offers a 4 nights and 5 days trip which cover the famous sites of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.
A costlier package that may go up to US $2,000 per adult is a 10 nights and 11 days trip covering attractions such as Indo China, Luang Namtha, Nong Khiaw, Luang Prabang, Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. One can even independently plan a personalised Angkor tour using an Angkor tourism guide.Angkor is 20 minutes towards the north by road from central Siem Reap and there are many modes of transportation that one can choose from to visit the various temples. While the common ones would be tourist buses, hired cars with drivers, tuk-tuks and electric cars, there is always the alternative of renting a bicycle.
Renting a motorbike is also an option but one needs to hire a rider as it is prohibited for a foreigner to rent a bike without one in Siem Reap. However, a foreigner is permitted to ride a motorbike they have rented elsewhere, such as Phnom Penh. Horse and elephant carriages are available within the park and this act as the main attraction for families. These rides are available only at specific points and for specific routes. The most recent modes of travel include helicopter flights, for a basic eight-minute tour, and the hot air balloon rides for a 6-10 minute flight.
