Whale watching is the main activity in Kaikoura and the best thing is that the sperm whales are here all round the year. The best time to visit Kaikoura is during the months of October and until March as the weather during this time is quite warm and pleasant.
But sperm whales are not the only species of whales that you see in the waters of Kaikoura and if you do not mind the chill in the weather, the winter (June-August) is the best time to see the other species of whales. The Kaikoura Mountain Ranges also look beautiful during this time.
