Commuting Within Khajjiar

Khajjiar is an untouched terrain and getting in and around will require you to have your own vehicle. The main mode of transport is a car or motorcycle; it can get very cold in the evening, so a car is recommended. Taxis can be hired from Dalhousie to explore Khajjiar. Pony rides are available in Khajjiar, but this is mostly a recreational activity rather than a functional one. The ponies are called khachhars (mules) – a cross between horses and donkeys. Walking is highly recommended in Khajjiar, as this is a region bursting with natural beauty. There are buses from Dalhousie but nearly no buses ply to Khajjiar and even if they do, they have very erratic schedules.
