The capital city of the state of Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram is located at a distance of 16 km from Kovalam and Kovalam can be easily reached by road. The place is nicely connected by roads and offers ample taxis and buses services. Taxis cost about INR 400 to INR 500 total to get to Kovalam from Thiruvananthapuram and are frequent. Buses are also available from Trivandrum to Kovalam Junction. Trademark rides of India Auto Rickshaws can also be hired to get to Kovalam. They cost about INR 150 to INR 170, but do not go over INR 170 as this is not the fair price. The bus fares are surprisingly cheap if one chooses to travel by the public buses that leave from Trivandrum east Fort and go till Kovalam beach.
