The Dubai Creek is where the history of Dubai lies. The creek became the spot for fishing, pearling and for sea trade. By the 20th century, the Dubai Creek became an important port for the traders. After oil was discovered, Sheikh Rashid decided to invest money and build infrastructure that would support the businesses nearby. Today, it is one of the best attractions of Dubai.
You can still see the traders and the fisherman going about their work. There are markets surrounding the creek where they sell traditional wares. Take a walk along the creek or hop on to one of the dhows with the traders. A ride with the traders on these traditional dhows is one of the things to do in Dubai. While the creek is operational 24 hours, best time to visit is between 10.00am to 7.00pm.
