An actual natural phenomenon, in the same category as Australia&#8217;s Pink Lake.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The Vibrant Horizons<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The rolling green hills echo Malaysia&#8217;s tea highlands, and the steppe and dunes carry that classic Central Asian vastness.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s the kind of place where you keep stopping mid-sentence and saying, &#8220;wait, this reminds me of&#8230;&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>The Destinations Worth Building Your Itinerary Around<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many places in Kazakhstan that I loved, but here are some that touched my heart and that you must visit if you are planning a trip to Kazakhstan!<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Almaty: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s difficult to miss this, as most flights end up landing here!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A quick note about the place: <\/span><\/i><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although it is not Kazakhstan&#8217;s capital city, it has the best connectivity.\u00a0 It is, in fact, Kazakhstan&#8217;s largest city, with about 2.35 million people. The skyline has tall modern buildings, but behind them are taller mountains. The Tian Shan range sits right at the edge of the city, so the backdrop for your morning coffee is genuinely absurd.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to know what to do.. Well, there\u2019s nothing much actually. Walking the boulevards, it feels like being in a mid-sized European city, minus the prices and the crowds. The most interesting aspect is that the city is famously tied to apple cultivation. The name \u201cAlmaty\u201d itself derives from the word for apples, and the Old Town still carries that quiet, orchard-village feeling.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Our sightseeing tour features prominent <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Almaty tourist attractions<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, including Ascension Cathedral, the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Big Almaty Lake, and Kok-Tobe Hill.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Shymbulak Ski Resort<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>It is only <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">25 km from Almaty. Sits in the Tien Shan mountains. In winter, it draws skiers from around the world with gear rentals, cable cars, and chairlifts. Even for beginners, it&#8217;s accessible. And the night skiing experience for experienced skiers is something I&#8217;d go back for specifically. In fact, it is undoubtedly one of the best <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Almaty attractions <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">we came across.<\/span><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Kolsai Lakes National Park: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This one took my breath away.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Three glacial lakes, i. e Lower, Middle, and Upper, are connected by a marked trail through pine forest and mountain valley. However, to cover all three properly, you need at least 2-3 full days. The cornerstone of Kazakhstan&#8217;s cultural heritage. I went in without high expectations and came out genuinely moved. The artistic depth here, for a city and a country that many Indians have never even visited, is remarkable and is one of the best \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Almaty things to see<\/span><b>\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. I heard a few audible &#8220;Bravo&#8221;s that evening. Parks, promenades, entertainment zones \u2014 without the friction of European tourist-season chaos.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>If you just want a good holiday:<\/b><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Core sightseeing: Almaty, Kolsai and Kaindy Lakes, Shymbulak, the Steppe and Singing Dunes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Catch a show at Abay Opera and Ballet Theatre.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shop at Grand Park, Green Bazar, and Qyrgy Bazar.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eat well. If you&#8217;re non-vegetarian, you&#8217;re in luck. Kazakh Pilaf, Kuurdak, Beshbarmak, Koktal. Rich, flavourful, worth trying. Vegetarians should plan ahead; the options are genuinely limited.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>One Thing to Know Before You Go<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The language barrier is real.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">English proficiency outside major cities is limited. And we found that even within the cities, many people didn&#8217;t follow English at all. We had no idea about Kazakh or Russian, which most people spoke. Also, the Google translation wasn\u2019t helping much. This created real concern.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is also why a guided tour becomes less a luxury and more a practical necessity here. A local travel expert who speaks both Kazakh and English changes the entire texture of the trip. You stop guessing and start understanding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Structured itineraries also help with the vegetarian meal situation, with pre-arranged options that exist if you ask in advance.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Is Kazakhstan the Next Big Destination for Indian Travellers?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Around 69% of Kazakhstan&#8217;s population is Muslim. But the lifestyle here is modern and liberal \u2014 not conservative. Indian tourists are genuinely welcomed, and that warmth is immediately apparent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of Indian visitors to Kazakhstan remains low. Mostly because nobody talks about it, not because it isn&#8217;t worth going.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Compared to Europe, you spend a fraction. You see more. You deal with far fewer crowds. And you come back with a story that most people in your WhatsApp group haven&#8217;t heard before.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kazakhstan fits naturally into what&#8217;s being called the &#8220;New Europe Itinerary&#8221; alongside Georgia and Azerbaijan. All three are arriving as serious travel destinations at roughly the same time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Getting there now means experiencing it before it gets crowded.
