The visa process, if understood, is easy, simple and straightforward. As long as you follow the procedures, fill the application truly and correctly, and provide the right documents you\u2019ll stand a good chance of getting your visa (remember ultimately the final decision rests in the hands of the embassy).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

When things get difficult, just close your eyes and imagine the sights you\u2019ll see in your dream country. All I had to do was imagine the Big Ben, the castles in Wales, the London Eye, the Loch Ness lake. And if that doesn\u2019t work, then its time to bring in an expert \u2013 Thomas Cook.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Now that I\u2019ve received my visa, I\u2019d like to share my research and my visa experience with you. Simply put, the UK visa\u00a0gives you access to the entire United Kingdom territory. Perhaps this might seem like an obvious answer. However, take a minute to look at what that means. With one visa, you gain access to four different countries \u2013 England, Scotland, Ireland and Wales; countries with long histories, vast territories, multiple cities and different cultures. The UK visa essentially offers you an opportunity to explore all these different areas and experiences. Also, this is the birthplace of Shakespeare and Harry Potter \u2013 pretty magical right?<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Under what circumstances can I apply for a UK visa?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

If you\u2019re like me, you\u2019ll apply for a tourist UK visa. However, visiting the UK is not restricted to a holiday. Many people visit the UK for different reasons, such as:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

  2. Business<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  3. Education<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  4. Transiting through the UK to another country<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  5. As a refugee<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  6. Joining family members\/spouses who are residing there<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  7. Medical reasons<\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Just as your reason differs, so will the type of visa. Based on your requirements, you will need to apply for a specific type of visa. Each of these visas has their own qualifications and documents.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    What is the UK tourist visa?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    If you\u2019re looking to enter the UK for leisure, tourism, participation in seminars\/events, medical treatment, business etc. you can apply for the UK Standard Visitor Visa. It can be a bit confusing, however, tourism is included under this visa. Earlier, there were a host of different visas for different travel reasons. The Standard Visitor Visa has now replaced:<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Under the Standard Visitor Visa, you can stay in the UK for 6 months and extend your visa for 11 months (if you require any medical treatment) or 12 months (for academic research).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

      Eligibility depends on the individual \u2013 your finances, your circumstances and the degree of truthfulness in your application and the documents you provide the embassy. However, there are some basic criteria that need to be fulfilled.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

        Aside from your documents, you will also have to visit the visa application centre to submit your biometrics \u2013 fingerprints and a facial scan. The centre will digitally scan all 10 fingerprints and take a digital photograph.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

        What is the Visa interview process like?<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

        Once you\u2019ve submitted the application and your documents, its time for the visa interview. This is the final stage of the process and plays a substantial role in your visa approval. However, before you panic, remember that as long as you are polite, clear about your reasons to visit the UK<\/a> and provide details that match the ones on your application you will be fine. The questions asked by the interviewer are based on the type of visa you are applying for, as well as details in your application.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
