This temple is dedicated to the Mayan goddess of fertility and the moon, Ixchel, discovered by Francisco Hernandez while he was on his expedition during 1517. The mixed seafood grill here is the best you can get and you shouldn’t leave before trying it. The food here is prepared by a local fisherman; he has an assorted feast of fresh seafood including crab, lobster and fish.

If there is time only for one restaurant, this is the one to go. The restaurant specialises in Mexican city (chilango) cuisine. The fixed 3 course meal (menu deldia) is of great value. The speciality of the restaurant is chicken in handmade chocolate and chilli sauce (pollo en mole poblano) which is a must try if on the menu.

This restaurant can be found behind the La Isla mall. The food is served in a private stilted palapa (thatched palm leaf roof and open sides). These palapa can be chosen either having a garden attached or with a lagoon view. The recommended dish is the Pla de Phuket which is a crunchy fish in spicy tamarind sauce.

This club is a beautiful mid-sized club and is considered among the most popular clubs in the city. This club is located between the Coco Bongo and The City in the party zone. The décor is Indian inspired with rich and lush fabrics and vibrant colours. This is enough to inform you about that this is not your regular club. It feels like the finest VIP rooms covering the whole club. This is Cancun’s hottest and hippest clubs since its opening.

The biggest club in Cancun also claiming to be the biggest nightclub in whole of Latin America, this club has a capacity of well over 5000 clubbers. It is often full during the spring break season and the summer. This is a 3 story club where international stars like Akon, Fergie, 50 Cent, Ludacris and other celeb DJ’s have given performances. This place also has acrobats and other performers, just time the Coco Bongo. The music played here covers all genes with over 100000 sound system and the 650 sq. feet video screen.

This is by far the largest mall in Cancun and most crowded. The mall has an art gallery, so vast it takes half of the 2nd floor. The mall sells silverworks, galleons and conquistador weapon replicas made of wood and body armour.

Colormax, north of the Claveles, sells digital camera accessories like memory card and films for the older cameras.

This market is reasonably priced, has expert staff and the best liquor varieties. The liquors include some top of the line tequila’s and mezcal.

Fama has a good variety of domestic-international newspapers, magazines, Mexican road maps, international books and swimsuits. It also sells swimsuits.
