This statue is in memory of Patsy the dog which was the city's official greeting dog. Patsy was a bull terrier who started the job in 1929 and only quit when she died in 1929 after 13 years of greeting visitors. It is a beautifully carved statue and worth a visit.

There aren't any dishes that are local to this area but instead the food is centered on the amazing variety of fresh seafood they get. The seafood includes fish, lobster, crab and much more and make sure that you try out these.

Some of the bars in this area will have live music on occasion, especially during the more popular times to visit. If there isn't any live music, you can go to any of the bars and listen to the DJs and enjoy the time out.

Viking Lounge

This bar is one of the best places for dancing in the city and the DJ really likes to crank up the tunes. You can visit this place with the locals and even hang out and drink your favorite drinks.

Sometimes there are flea markets in the city, but you have to check and find out the dates. They are typically held during the summer, spring and fall because of the weather.  However, make sure to check if they are being held.

There are a number of shops in the city where you can buy all your necessary items. These shops include the departmental stores and small boutique shops. Some of the more popular stores here include Wal-Mart, Fred Myers, Ben Franklin and many more.

There aren't any major street markets in this city but there are a huge variety of small boutiques. Many of these small stores sell crafts and other items that are only available in Alaska and you can also buy souvenirs from here so that you can take these back home.
