The park area here has the Muckross Traditional Farms that is considered to be a perfect place for outing for kids. Taking a ring walk will lead one to the several traditional farmhouses that are lined up there. During the summers, one can find kittens and puppies which are usually taken by the kids to play with and also can attend the live demonstration of the process of making sola bread and butter.

The Lakes of Killarney are open for boat rides and taking boat trips. The boats leave from Ross Castle regularly in the summer season. There are row boats available as well which can be taken on rent from the small dock situated beside Ross Castle. Although the boats are fairly large in size, the oars are of poor quality. However, one must not lose out on the experience.

Aura, Killarney’s only purpose-specific leisure centre allows people to swim and relax. This place is located on the bypass road which takes about five minutes from the town if driving in a car or about 25 minutes by walk.

For the movie buffs, there latest movies are screened in the Killarney Cineplex. The movie can be enjoyed with a drink or by sitting and relaxing at the local pubs in Killarney.

For someone who does not wish to miss out on the cuisine that makes a place famous, Killarney has many options to explore. The Laurels serves its customers with the traditional Irish cuisine that are prepared with entirely local ingredients. Items such as Bantry Bay made with white wine, fresh cream , garlic  and served with soda bread, a traditional Irish stew served with crusty rolls baked at homes, potato cakes that are filled with chicken along with a smoked bacon and served with mushroom sauce are the must try items.


At Cronn’s, a small but highly recommended café serves foods like salads, soups, sandwiches  and other hot and cold items to everyone throughout the day at affordable rates. The café also offers special rates and items in the menu. The super enthusiastic customer service and the fast pace service is much appreciated.

One of the nicest restaurants located on the Main Street, ScealEile is definitely a must try place. It is always advised that one catches hold of a window seat to enjoy the view and the food. They serve a varied menu and are appreciated for their excellent customer service.

For enjoying drinks, places such as Buckley’s Bar, The Laurels, Courtney’s Bar, and Kate Kearney’s Cottage are highly recommended.
