Dishes In Trincomalee

Most of the Sri Lankan dishes consist of a regular meal of rice and curry with a variant of coconut based side dishes.

Some of the local dishes to be tried by tourists areKottu, Hoppers (known as Appa here), Pittu, Kool (a kind of seafood variety) and Lamprais.

Sri Lankan sweet dishes come with an interesting choice of names like Bibikkan, Kevum (oil cake), Aggala, WeliThalapa, Watalappam, Aluwa, UnduWalalu,   KaluDodol and Kokis. So those with a sweet tooth can tuck into these odd yet enticing ranges of sweets.

Beverages like Toddy (drink made from the sap of palm trees) and Arrack (made from coconut spirit) are worth a try too.
