This is a World War I memorial but has later conflicts surrounding it. This memorial consists of a statue of a soldier and an Angel of Peace sculpted from marble rock. The names of the local people involved in the war have been engraved in a wall behind the statues.
As the name goes, this particular foundation was build to commemorate the foundation of the city of Warrnambool (17th February, 1847), though the monument dedication took place in 1997, as inscribed on its plaque.
