The sanctuary is situated at AkoleTaluk. Best Season to visit would be August-December. The sanctuary is placed among the Sahyadri hill ranges and offers a picturesque scene. The Kalasubai peak has an altitude of 1646m and is the highest peak in Western Ghats. It is an ideal place for people who want to enjoy the beauty of nature far away from the hustle & bustle of city life. The sanctuary has various temples, peaks and forts that make it a place of rich past.
KalasubaiHarischandragad Wildlife Sanctuary near Bhandardara is the shelter to wide variety of wildlife which includes birds, butterflies andrepliles. Birds spotted here are mainly common hill and grassland birds such as Kingfishers, raptors, Barbets and Shrikes. You can also see waterbirds such as Black Ibis, White Necked Stork, Cattle, Little & Large Egrets, Purple & Pond Heron, Little & Large Cormorants and also Water hens.
