Kanakdurga Fort is a located very close to the Suvarnadurg Fort. It is a harbor fort, and was built as a link to the Golden fort. It projects into the sea, and adjoins the Harnai port. Excluding two rundown bastalions, some water tanks and a light house, most of the fort is now in ruins. This fort was once a very active military camp, and has about nine water ponds. Yet many tourists love visiting it, as it provides a great insight into the Maratha Dynasty’s history. One can feel extremely rejuvenated by spending time here, with the ocean right in front.
