Khor Virap Monastery In Armenia

When in Armenia one should definitely visit the Khor Virap Monastery located in the Ararat valley. This monastery was home to many Armenian Catholics and was host to theological seminary. This monastery is famous for its notability and pilgrimage site because Grigor Lusavorich who later became Saint Gregory the illuminator was imprisoned by the king for about 14 years. After adopting Christianity the first chapel was built in the site of Kirat Virap. Thus this place has a religious has well as cultural significance.
