Milda

Freedom Monument in Riga is also known as ‘Milda’.  It was erected in 1935 as a replacement of the statue of Peter the Great Russian ruler. This statue is a female liberty figure in copper with three golden starts in her hands representing three regions of Latvia. Holocaust Memorial in Riga is a concrete monument for the brave Latvians who hid Jews during the war. Swedish Gate in Riga is the only gate in Old Riga that stands as a remainder of Swedish rule. This was built in 1698 on the walls of the city. Latvian Riflemen Monument is a riflemen statue honoring bodyguards.
