The highest peak is Mount Liamuiga on St. Kitts and Nevis which is 1,156 meters tall. The islands have their exclusive origin with some large central peaks which are covered in a tropical rain forest. The majority of the people of Saint Kitts and Nevis live by the side of the sea. There are many rivers which come down from the upper course from the mountains of both islands; it provides fresh water to local people. St. Kitts has a small lake and a salt pond. Brown pelica is the national bird of this country.
