Everything You Need to Know About Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary

Mount Abu takes pride for being the only hill station in Rajasthan. Located on the border of Gujarat and Rajasthan, visited by many travelers who come here to enjoy beautiful weather and some fun time with their loved ones.
This town has many attractions but the most popular one is Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary. This wildlife sanctuary is the habitat for many animals and birds and is consider a paradise for nature lovers. This place, divided in many different parts and Trevor’s Tank is the most popular one. This man made structure is home to many crocodiles who are kept here for safe breeding.
Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the foothills of Aravalli Range. The lush green surroundings and surreal water-bodies offer shelter to many wild animals. It is easy to visit the sanctuary during your visit to Mount Abu and then return after spending a few hours.
Flora and Fauna at Mount Abu Wildlife Sanctuary
The lower forest comprises of the dry thorny bushes that are indigenous to Rajasthan. There are various pieces of dicots and monocots growing in the surroundings of the park. Apart from this, the interiors of the park is filled with around 81 species of trees, 17 species of rare medicinal plants, 28 climber species and 89 shrub species. This is one of the few places in Rajasthan where you will find orchids. Other notable plant life includes algae, wild roses, feras, and bryophytes along with dense bamboo forests.
It said that Asiatic Lions used to venture in this forest but with time, they vanished that is the reason for which said to be relentless hunting by the kings and British officials. As of now, the animals residing in the sanctuary are limited to Indian Leopard, mongoose, Indian hare, pangolin, sambar, porcupine, sloth bear, wild boar, common langur and hedgehog. Dilwara Jain Temples
Dilwara Jain Temples are the most beautiful example of architecture in Jainism. These temples were construct between 11th and 13th century AD. The complex is fill with beautiful carvings and intricate designs. The use of marble in construction of the temple is primarily notable and displays expert crafts man ship that was involved to create this marvellous structure.
Nakki Lake
Nakki Lake is a fun place to visit in Mount Abu. This is the largest manmade lake sitting at a height of 1100 meters. This pristine lake overlooks the gorgeous Aravalli Hills and creates a very picturesque atmosphere. This is one place that you can visit with your family and friends and spend a fun filled evening. Boating here is one of the popular things to do in Mount Abu. Nakki Lake also known as Love Lake because of the couples who come here to spend some memorable moments. It is also the host of Mount Abu summer and winter festivals during which many activities are organize here.
Guru Shikhar
Guru Shikhar is situate at a height of 5676 feet (1722 meters) and is the highest peak of Rajasthan. It is located at a distance of 15 km from Mount Abu town and offers lovely views of nearby surrounding areas. Guru Shikhar revered because of the temple of Dattatreya. He is believe to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and his footprints are imprint on a rock here. This is also a fun place to enjoy trekking in Mount Abu and the trail shows lovely, scenic views of the surrounding areas.
Achalgarh Fort
Achalgarh or Achalgadh Fort is a popular tourist spot worth visiting during Mount Abu trip. Rana Kumbha in the middle of Thar Desert built this fort. It is 8 kilometer from Mount Abu and best to be visit in the morning.

Peace Park
Peace Park or Brahma Kumari Park is a beautiful place created with the intention of offering spiritual rehabilitation to the visitors. This recreation center is settle between two tops of hills, Guru Shikhar and Achal Garh. Peace Park is maintain by Brahma Kumari foundation. One can also take out some time to catch a video documentary on their works.
Honeymoon Point
Honeymoon point is located at a height of 4000 feet. This beautiful spot overlooks the town of Mount Abu and is fill with lovelorn couples who come here to enjoy scenic views. This location is also a favorite of photographers, as they love to capture the views of the city engulfed in mist.

Best time to visit Mount Abu
Summers and winters are the best time to visit Mount Abu. Mount Abu in monsoon is beautiful but occasional rain will ruin your chances to go for sightseeing. Visitors plan to visit this destination between the months of February and Mid-June and then between September and January when the weather is nice and it is easy to explore all the important attractions.

Mount Abu connected via rail and road. Nearest railway, station is at Abu Road where trains from many different locations stop. By road, Mount Abu connected from Ahmedabad and Udaipur. Nearest airports from Mount Abu are in Ahmedabad, Jaipur and New Delhi. There are many local and private buses, shared jeeps and private vehicles available to travel around Mount Abu.
