9 Out of 10 Vacations End Up Being Stressful. Here’s How You Can Avoid This
Table of contents
The sole purpose of going on a vacation is to take a breath of fresh air, away from the hullaballoo of your mundane routine. Be it a weekend getaway or a full-fledged holiday with the family, the plan is to destress yourself and come back fresher than ever! To have a stress-free vacation, make sure that you refrain from over planning and scheduling your itinerary. It is important to chalk out a basic plan but at the same time make sure that it allows for a few changes, if required.
We have listed down for you some tips and things to keep in mind for a peaceful vacation! Let’s make sure that you don’t need a vacation to recover from your vacation!
1. Try to visit off-beat locations
The very purpose of a vacation is defeated if you end up going to places that are crowded and noisy. You will get no relief from the chaos if you have to make your way through the crowd like you have to do in the local trains. If you would rather relax and listen to the sounds of nature for a change and look at the blanket of stars above you, make sure that you go for the road not taken. The beauty of such places is untouched by the rush of tourists making them more divine than ever, giving you the much-needed break from the daily chaos of city life. Do not forget to conduct your research before you choose your vacation spot. Look for as many options as possible, weigh the pros and cons and only then would it be wise to decide. After all, the destination is the most important part of the vacation!
2. Do not over-plan your vacation
Chalk out your basic itinerary. Though you may be excited about travelling and looking forward to exploring, make sure that you don’t bite off more than you can chew. Do not decide to hop from one location to the other in a short amount of time. Also, do not schedule too many activities at once. Keep it simple and focus on relaxing and letting go. Try not to make a rigid timetable. Try to focus on one thing at a time. Be it just one location or one activity in a day. Make sure you do not have to run from one place to the other. Just go with the flow!

3. Bring a few books to read on Vacations
If you are on a solo vacation, reading amidst the hills or on a tropical beach as the sea waves hit the shore, can prove to be extremely relaxing. Not just that, reading is good for one’s mental health and lets you forget all about your surroundings for a bit. It piques your interest and increases your concentration levels. However, sometimes our routine doesn’t allow us to sit back and enjoy a good old book. Take advantage of your vacation and pick up that book you have been meaning to read since forever!
4. Pack light
It might be tempting to pack all the beautiful dresses that you may have in your wardrobe to make sure that you never fall short of anything to wear. Be it dresses, extra food, camping necessities as per the nature of your vacation. We are sure you wouldn’t want to worry about carrying extra luggage everywhere you go. This would just increase your stress and you will soon realise that you don’t need half of the things that you packed. Believe us, less is more when it comes to packing.
5. Be on time
Rather be ten minutes early than late. Save yourself from the pre-trip jitters and head to the airport, station or hit the road before time so that you remain on schedule. It is important to give yourself some time in case of any unforeseen circumstances before the trip. You don’t want your trip to start off on a bad note.

6. Sleep well
Never underestimate the importance of a good night’s sleep. Make sure that you get at least eight hours of sleep the night before you have to leave. A well-slept mind makes sure you do not get cranky during your journey. Moreover, once you reach the spot, make sure that you rest well by taking power naps in between your schedule. This will keep you refreshed and energetic. Try sleeping early in the night so that you wake up fresh and ready to face the day.
7. Limit your phone time
Put your phone away and enjoy the sights with your family or spend some time with yourself. Stop checking your emails and text messages. Take a break and do not answer calls or messages from work-unless they are really important. You are on a holiday; you owe it yourself to relax and rejuvenate.
