The Fascinating North East part of India harbors some of the most spectacular tourist destinations in India, and even in Asia. North East India – A rejuvenating escapade

The fertile Brahmaputra valley boasts of an amazing repertoire of flora that is any botanist’s delight. Neatly manicured tea plantations of Assam help create a therapeutic effect. These lands are virgin, wild and have till date, remained largely untouched. The abundance of scenic beauty is spread through every nook and corner of the land. The gateway into this enchanting and exotic wilderness is the Siliguri Corridor.

Some of the tourist hotspots that are a must see in North East India include Kaziranga National Park, Majuli, and Umiam Lake, among others. Kaziranga National Park, one of the most important tourist interests in the North East, is a UNESCO world heritage site located in Assam. It is the abode of elephants, rhinoceros, monkeys and buffaloes, besides many other species of wildlife. Moreover, the park shelters a diverse variety of avian species. In a nutshell, the park is a thriving hub of eco-diversity.

One can also visit the Tawang Monastery, to absorb its serenity and beauty. You should not miss out on Cherrapunji and Mawsynram while on a North East tours. The title of the wettest places on earth is held by the two, the former having been dethroned by the latter. Other popular destinations in the North East India include Gangtok, Shillong, Guwahati, Pelling, Lachung, Silchar, Imphal and Kohima.

Diversity in food

Each of the regions has their distinct flavors of cuisine. Nevertheless, predominantly the influence of Tibetan and Bangladeshi is found in a large section of region’s food. Tribal culture also has a great influence on local food habits. Albeit different, it won’t be a disappointment.
