Before you experience the timeless beauty of Europe, an important to-do list stands between you and your first trip to Europe.
Planning your first trip to Europe may seem tedious and overwhelming, but if you want to reminisce a successful trip, you must have the perfect itinerary. Here we bring to you a 10-step guide for a great Europe tour:
Travel Guide For Your First Trip to Europe
1. Documents first

The moment you have decided to take a trip to Europe, the first step is to set all your documents in order. In case you don’t have a passport, make sure to apply well in advance as it takes a minimum of 4 months to complete the process. If you already have a passport, check its expedition date and prepare accordingly. Also ensure to check your driving license, in case you plan to rent a car in Europe. Getting a European tourist visa is a complicated process especially when you hold an Indian Passport. Don’t panic! There is a way out. You need to get a Schengen Visa which covers almost all the countries in Western Europe and a few in Eastern Europe. In order to get this visa, you must show confirmed flight tickets and hotel bookings. We will get there soon… You must also remember to convert your currency from INR to Euro before leaving and Euro to INR after completion of the trip.
2. The budget
The next most important step is to establish a budget. Establish your budget and then work towards planning your itinerary and accommodations. Remember, travelling Europe on a budget is indeed possible. Travel in the off-season, choose budget accommodations and make a smart itinerary. While you do this, make sure to get your foreign exchange in order, for the best possible exchange rate.
3. Pick a destination

Now that you have your budget in place, you can decide which parts of Europe you wish to explore. If you wish to visit every bit of Europe, it could be tricky. Chalk out specifically which locations you want to visit in which countries. Don’t forget to check the weather for the destinations you decide, as this may bring some changes to your budget as well.
4. Rough itinerary
Create a rough itinerary. Plan a day-to-day itinerary of your perfect trip to the locations you have decided upon. Research in depth about the cities and locations you want to visit and then shortlist the ones you have the time and money for. Remember to sort your money as per the foreign exchange rate.
5. Book the air ticket:
Airfare will be the most expensive part of your trip, it is now time to book it. You can spend less by flying on international discount airlines.
6. Book your accommodations
Now that you have booked your air tickets and you know when you will land, book your accommodations. Do your research and choose a budget location to stay in. You also have the opportunity to stay in interesting hotels, as interesting as the location you choose.
7. Travel insurance
There are several types of travel insurance. Now is the time to put your money in an insurance as you have completed all other major spends. Do not forget to check your medical insurance.
8. Book local transportation
There are two ways to do this. Either look at what the locals do and follow that or book car rentals for the destinations you are visiting. Make sure to negotiate and get good deals on the car rental.
9. The last minute essentials
Make a checklist and keep ticking it off. However planned you maybe, there will be some last minute hitches to take care of. Do not leave without your passport, visa, license, credit card and currency. Also, check for all your electric appliances and their chargers, for there is no use of the device without its charger.
10. Now pack
Now that you have completed all these steps, it is time to pack! Pack keeping in mind the weather of the destinations you are going to. Make the most of your trip to Europe!
This is the best 10 step guide to plan your first trip to Europe! Having done all this, expect and wait for Europe to surprise you and please you! Europe will take you in its arms and give you the warmest hug. Another thing you must remember is that, don’t forget to convert your currency from Euro to INR after a successful trip to Europe.
Enjoy the blemish less beauty of Europe!
