How to reach Rohtang Pass

The distance between Manali and Rohtang pass is about 50km, and the drive can take up to a maximum of 2 hours. All vehicles personal or commercial need to apply for a Rohtang pass Permit as the area has restricted entry. There is a daily quota for the number of passes issues, so make sure you get yours in advance. The passes are issues at the Himachal Tourism offices and online.

Manali to Rohtang Pass

• Self-Drive: As long as you have a valid permit and your vehicle can sustain the rugged terrains, visitors are free to drive themselves to the past and continue into Spiti valley and Leh Ladakh.
• Busses: The busses are operated by Himachal Tourism and the fare for a non-ac bus is INR 310/- Per Passenger.
• Cab: You can hire a cab from Manali to Rohtang Pass and the fare ranges between INR 2300-2500 for a 4-seater vehicle.

Rohtang Pass Permit

 All visitors travelling from Manali to Rohtang Pass need a permit to enter the region as it’s a protected area. Visitors planning to travel to the region can also apply for the Rohtang Pass Permit Online.

The pass can be applied online via the Himachal Tourism website. The permits are valid for 24 hours and allow to and fro access. There is a limited quota for each day, so make sure you apply for the permits beforehand.
