Eid 2025: How Traditions and Rituals Make the Festival Special
Table of contents
Eid-Ul-Fitr is a festival celebrated by Muslims in India and around the globe. It is an important festival that marks the end of Ramadan. Throughout the country, you will find people celebrating this festival with their family and friends with a smile on their faces. With Eid 2025 knocking on the door, it is the key time to learn everything about this festival so you can enjoy it to the fullest.
About Eid-Ul-Fitr and its significance
Eid-Ul-Fitr, which is also known as “Meethi Eid” and “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, marks the end of Ramadan, which is the Muslim holy month of fasting, prayer, community and reflection. Ramadan commemorates Muhammad’s first revelation and occurs during the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is the time when all Muslim adults take part in ritualistic fasting, from dawn to sunset, for an entire month. During this time, they abstain from not only eating food but also drinking water and taking part in certain activities. They can only take a pre-dawn meal called “Suhoor” and a meal to break the fast in the evening called “Iftar”.
So, as the month comes to an end, Eid-Ul-Fitr is celebrated with a major prayer service. People, with their families and friends, take part in joyous occasions wearing fine clothing and eating festive food to their heart’s content. After going through such a difficult period, the celebrations of Eid-Ul-Fitr become a highlight in everyone’s life, hence celebrated in a grand way. It becomes a time to show gratitude to God after the month of Ramadan, spend time with family and friends, reflect on oneself, forge stronger bonds and help others. This Eid festival can last from one to three days, with each day marked by grand celebrations.

Eid
Various locations in India celebrate Eid Ul-Fitr in their grand style. For example, in Delhi, Ramzan special Haleem is served at the well-known Gali Kababian, the famous Jama Masjid. In Srinagar, people gather at the historic Eidgah to offer prayers on Eid.
When is Eid-Ul-Fitr 2025?
Eid-Ul-Fitr is one of the two major festivals in Islam and is observed annually as the holy month of Ramadan concludes. This year, Eid 2025 is expected to take place between the evening of Sunday, 30th March, or Monday, 31st March. Eid festival in 2025, just like every year, will be celebrated by Muslims with special prayers at mosques, family and social gatherings, exchanging greetings, taking part in unique Eid traditions and rituals and so on.
The tentative date for Eid 2025 is between the evening of Sunday, 30th March, or Monday, 31st March. As the sighting of the moon determines the beginning of Eid-Ul-Fitr, the date is not fixed on the Gregorian calendar and hence fluctuates.
