Mahabaleshwar – An enchanting affair with nature
Table of contents
If you are in Maharashtra and love the hills, most chances are that you heard of or even visited the enchanting hill station of Mahabaleshwar. The largest of the hill stations in the Sahyadri range in Maharashtra is a tourist magnet in the southern state not only for its local populace, but also a pan-Indian and even foreign crowd.
There is quite an elaborate history to the place too. In 1828, British governor Sir John ‘Boy’ Malcom had turned this quaint hill station into the summer presidency. This title was bestowed on the scenic Mahabaleshwar solely on the power of its hilly charms and breathtaking landscape of mesmerizing beauty. However, the old-world charm of the British Raj era has gradually given way to lofty constructions and overt commercialization. Nevertheless, the hill station is still a great idea to visit, due to its soaring crests, verdant valleys and pleasant weather.

A Mahabaleshwar tour ideally takes a minimum of two days to wrap up. You can nevertheless, extend your stay if you are keen to breath in more of the purified mountain air. During your stay, you should go about visiting nearby attractions in the region. You can drive off to the serene Venna Lake, which is a short distance away and spend an idle day boating, pony riding or even fishing. There is also an entertainment center here that can keep tourists preoccupied for a long time. During your trip to Mahabaleshwar, visit the tourist spots of Arthur’s Seat, Babington Point, Lodwick Point, Wilson Point, Elephant’s Head Point, Bombay Point (Sunset Point), Kate’s Point and the Lingamala Falls.
