Ellora Caves In Aurangabad

Yet another World Heritage Site, these caves mark the history of the Rashtrakuta Dynasty of Maharashtra. Having a total of 34 caves, Ellora is a perfect specimen of rock carvings by earlier Indian civilisations. These caves were built between the 5th and 10th century and they rightly advocate for the secularism India stands for in the present day, by establishing Hindu, Jain and Buddhist temples right beside each other. Under the wing of the Archaeological Survey of India, the Ellora consists of 12 Buddhist, 17 Hindu and 5 Jain caves. This is yet another example of the beautiful yet informative sights that Aurangabad has to offer.
