Rwanda Travel Guidelines

  • Can Indian travel to the Rwanda?
  • NO

  • Eligibilty
  • From India to Rwanda
  • Stranded nationals/residents of Rwanda, foreign nationals destined for Africa and transiting through Rwanda or spouses of these persons, whether accompanying or otherwise;
  • Any Indian national or national of Nepal or Bhutan destined for any country in Africa and holding a valid visa for the destination country. It would be for the airlines concerned to ensure that there is no travel restriction for Indian/ Nepalese/Bhutanese nationals to enter the destination country with the particular visa category before issue of ticket / boarding pass to the Indian/ Nepalese/Bhutanese passenger; and
  • Seamen of foreign nationalities and Seamen holding Indian passports would be allowed subject to clearance from the Ministry of Shipping. Seamen should be destined to countries of Africa only.
  • From Rwanda to India
  • Indian nationals or nationals of Nepal or Bhutan stranded in any country in Africa;
  • All Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders holding passports of any country;
  • All foreign nationals (from any country in Africa) intending to visit India for any purpose (including their dependents on appropriate category of dependent visa) except those on Tourist Visa; and
  • Seamen from countries of Africa.
  • Passengers traveling on ights from India to Rwanda should be destined for African countries only. Similarly, only passengers originating from countries in Africa should be allowed to travel on ights from Rwanda to India.

  • Passenger Obligation
  • All travellers arriving in Rwanda must complete the passenger locator form and upload their negative COVID-19 test certicate prior to arrival.
  • On arrival every traveler must proceed to government-designated hotel for a second COVID-19 test.

  • Quarantine Protocol
  • Mandatory quarantine duration for Indians: Self-isolate till the on-arrival COVID test result is out.

  • Mandatory Quarantine & Testing Rules
  • Only those with a negative PCR COVID-19 test certicate taken no more than 120 hours before their initial ight can travel to Rwanda. National parks are open to visitors with a negative COVID-19 test.
  • All travellers arriving ortransiting through Rwanda will be screened upon entry and required to take a second RT-PCR test to conrm the negative results of the test done prior to arrival.
  • All travellers are required to wait 24 hours for the results oftheir COVID-19 test in a designated transit hotel.
  • After the travellers reach their designated hotels, theywill be tested for COVID-19 and there will be a medical team to assist for a total cost of 60 USD (includes 50 USD for the test and a medical service fee of 10 USD). Test results wilI be received by SMS or email, and the turnaround time for results is 24 hours from the time a sample is collected. Upon receiving a negative test result.
  • Travellers will be invited to check out or may extend their stay in the same hotel at applicable hotel rates.
  • If a traveler's test result is positive for COVID-19 (even if asymptomatic) while in Rwanda, they will be treated as indicated in the National Covid-19 Management Guidelines until they have fully recovered, at their own cost. We encourage all travelers to have international travel insurance.
