Table of contents
The winds of winter have begun making their way across the country, making it an amazing time to head out on a vacation with the family. Now while India surely is full of exciting vacation destinations, there are some places that not many know about. A good number of such places are present across the eastern states of our country. So if you’re looking for a place where you can relax, without having to worry about noisy tourists, here are a few reasons to travel to North East India:
Travel to North East India and Explore Beautiful Places
Umiam Lake, Meghalaya
Although the East is filled with beautiful lakes, the beauty of Umiam Lake in Shillong is unparalleled. Also known as Barapani, the scenic view from the lake will simply take your breath away. When you travel to North East India, look around and all you’ll see is green pastures that greet the clear blue skies at the horizon. Once you are here, try water sports like kayaking and water cycling or just relax while a boat ride acquaints you with beautiful views surrounding the lake.
Kaziranga National Park, Assam
Nature gets the upper hand in this part of the country, something that is quite evident at Kaziranga National Park. Known as one of the richest wildlife habitats in Asia, it is unbelievably stunning and home to indigenous species of animals. Here, you will surely see the wild side of Assam that you may never have seen before. North East Tourism has showcased the park for the true gem that it is and brought much fame to this beautiful natural wonder.
Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh
Home to delicious apples and picturesque views, Bomdila is a quaint town that sits 8000 ft. above the sea level. Once here, the first place you must visit is the Bomdila Monastery, which amazingly displays the town’s cultural background. Since it is located high up in the mountains, the cool weather here makes it a perfect place to enjoy scenic views.
Gurudongmar Lake, Sikkim
Sitting at an altitude of 17,000 feet, Gurudongmar Lake is nothing less than a paradise among the clouds. While the Lake steals the show here, majestic snow-capped mountains in the backdrop are sure to delight the aura around you. Its unparalleled beauty has landed it a spot on the itinerary of many North East Tour Packages.
Zemu Glacier, Sikkim
Zemu Glacier is one of the largest and mind-blowing glaciers in the Himalayas. Stretching over 26 kms, the best way to reach this place is by trekking your way to it. On your way, you’re sure to come across dense forest and scenic landscapes that give you a grand view of Sikkim’s true beauty. The trek can last 7-8 hours, so make sure to come prepared for the climb.
Ujjayanta Palace, Tripura
Situated at the heart of the city is the royal and famous Ujjayanta Palace. Spreading over 250 acres, this Greek styled palace was built by Maharaja Radhakishorelan Manikaya in 1901. It has since then stood the test of time and still looks as stunning as ever. The highlight of the palace isn’t just the architecture. The well maintained and beautiful gardens, the fountain and the large tanks are also what make a visit here worth your time.
If you intend to chill out and relax, let the cool winter winds soothe your body and mind while you travel to North East India and relish the beauty of the hidden jewels.
