Why FRRO registration is required?

What is e-FRRO?

e-FRRO is the online application system for foreigners to submit their applications and have them processed without requirement of physically visiting FRRO/FRO Office.

Who needs to apply for e-FRRO?

e-FRRO is the online portal of FRRO/FRO. All foreigners can apply through e-FRRO for the following services viz. Registration, Visa Extension, Visa Conversion, Exit Permit etc without visiting FRRO/FRO Office in person.

Do I need to visit FRRO/FRO office after applying through e-FRRO?

Visiting to FRRO office post applying online is not mandatory. If personal presence is required, then it will be communicated specifically by the FRRO/FRO office via email or SMS on your registered mobile number.

What happens if there is delay in fee payment or document uploading?

If any of the required documents are missing or the applicant misses the interview, then he/she will be liable for fine or prosecution as per Indian laws

Do I need to use my own email-id for registration?

Yes, registrations have to be done through personal email id as all important communications will be sent to that id.

Can I apply for my family members through my own ID?

One id can be used to apply for family members as well, however, application forms have to be filled individually for each family member.

How would I know about status of my application?

Updates will be sent via SMS on the registered mobile number and registered email id as well. It can also be checked through your account on FRRO website.
