Inverness Castle In Inverness

The original and the first Inverness Castle was built in the year 1141 by King David I. whilst it has been destroyed and reconstructed many times since then, the present sandstone structure with its pink hues was built by the Victorians in the 19th Century after the older structure was destroyed by the Jacobites in the mid of 18th Century. Although, you cannot actually enter the castle, you can enter the grounds and enjoy the surroundings.
