This building, situated at the north end of Marienplatz, is an important government landmark. One can find offices of many mayors, the city council as well as the city governing body; all operate from Neues Rathaus. Using the architecture style of the Gothic revival period, Georg Von Hauberrisser took 41 years to complete this mammoth building (1867-1908). The main tower of this building, which is almost 85 meters in height, is open to the public. The Rathaus Glockenspiel is a major tourist attraction, where 2 stories are enacted three times a day for the amusement of the masses.
