Canada Travel Guidelines

  • Meet the Government of Canada requirements of fully vaccinated travellers
  • Stranded Canadian nationals/residents and foreigners with valid Canadian visa eligible to enter Canada;

  • Can Indian travel to the Canada?
  • NO but selectively.
  • Suspended direct flights from India has been further extended till August 21, 2021 and Indian Nationals are not allowed entry to Canada during this period. However, cargo flights from India will con'nue Below guidelines are subject to confirmation by Canada once flights are resumed and new orders are issued.

  • Eligibilty

  • From India to Canada
  • Stranded Canadian nationals/residents and foreigners with valid Canadian visa eligible to enter Canada;
  • Indian nationals with valid visas eligible to enter Canada. It would be for the airlines concerned to ensure that there is no travel restriction for Indian nationals to enter Canada before issue of ticket/ boarding pass to the Indian passenger; and
  • Seamen of foreign nationalities; Seamen holding Indian passports would be allowed subject to clearance from the Ministry of Shipping

  • From Canada to India
  • Stranded Indian nationals;.
  • All Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders holding Canadian passports; and
  • Foreigners (including diplomats), who are eligible to enter India as per Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) guidelines dated 30.06.2020 as amended
    from time to time.

  • Other Things to Remember:
  • The emergency orders under the Quarantine Act do not allow people to travel to Canada for optional or discretionary reasons, such as for tourism, recreation or entertainment.
  • All travelers above 5 years entering Canada must present a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR molecular test report prior to boarding. The test must have been done not more than 72 hours before boarding the plane to Canada.

  • Passenger Obligation
  • The emergency orders under the Quarantine Act do not allow people to travel to Canada for optional or discretionary reasons, such as for tourism, recreation or entertainment.
  • All incoming passengers are recommended to wear masks while travelling and during their stay in Canada.
  • Due to COVID-19 pandemic, entry into Canada is open for a few select categories of travellers.
  • International passenger flights can arrive and depart at the following four Canadian airports only: Calgary International Airport, Montréal-Trudeau International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, Vancouver International Airport.
  • This restriction is limited to private, business and charter flights only.
  • Before departure, all passengers must download the ArriveCan mobile app (IOS or Android) and provide necessary information through a form available on the app. Check website link here.

  • Quarantine Protocol
  • Mandatory quarantine duration for Indians: 3 days of hotel stay + 14 days of quarantine

  • Mandatory Quarantine & Testing Rules
  • You would be eligible to enter Canada if have received the full series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine or a combination of accepted vaccines at least 14 days prior to entering Canada. Proof of vaccination has to be loaded in ArriveCAN. Accepted vaccines are Pfizer, Moderna , AstraZeneca , and Janssen
  • Yes, COVID-19 RT-PCR test must be taken 72 hours prior to boarding a flight to Canada.
  • Travellers must undergo a second COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at Canada airport.
    They will also be given an At Home Specimen Collection Kit at the airport.
  • Using this kit, they must take a third COVID-19 molecular test on day 10 of their quarantine. They will have to register for the test in advance, depending on which airport they arrive in. Please click here to check different rules applicable for different airports.
  • Information about the exact date when the 10-day test must be taken will be provided at the airport.
  • Even people who have been vaccinated must undergo the above tests.
  • Passengers transiting through Canada to other international destinations are exempted from these tests, provided they remain in the secure terminal area in the airport.
  • Passengers who have already suffered COVID-19 and have recovered, but are still testing positive, will be permitted to enter Canada with a positive test result obtained at least 14 days but not more than 90 days from the scheduled departure of a flight to Canada.
  • Having a ‘quarantine plan’ is mandatory for everyone entering Canada, without which entry shall be denied. More details here.
  • Travellers entering Canada must stay in a hotel for 3 nights at their own expense, while they await their on-arrival test results. For hotel bookings and list of Government authorised hotels, click here.
