Just like the name suggests, Gai Jatra is a festival that pays its honors to the cows. The local Nepalese believe that cows play a vital role in taking the deceased to the God of Death, Yama. Hence, on this festival, the cows are adorned with jewelry and clothes and are taken on a procession in the streets of Nepal.
Why you should attend this: To get a glimpse of the innocent kids that get dressed up as cows. Children are considered to be equal to God, and hence they also walk along with the cows in the procession dressed up as cows.
Who should attend this: People who want to know about the local Nepal cultures and traditions can attend this.
