About
Embark on a white journey and into the world of a young boy and his adventure with the magical Snowman. On a cold winter’s day, a young boy builds a snowman which miraculously comes to life at the stroke of midnight. Together, they play with various appliances, toys and other bric-a-brac in the house, all the while keeping quiet and being careful not to wake up the boy’s parents. After finding a sheeted motorcycle in the house’s garden, they take the bike and begin their fun and adventurous escapade to the North Pole. During the ride its engine heat affects the insides of the Snowman's thighs, and he cools off in the freezer. Later they encounter dancing penguins, jubilant snowmen, Father Christmas and the Evil Jack Frost. Father Christmas gives him a scarf with a snowman pattern. The next morning after they return, the sun has come out and the boy wakes up to find the snowman has melted. The boy reaches into his pocket and finds the snowman scarf given to him by Father Christmas.
With beautiful music and lyrics by Howard Blake, including Walking in the Air, design by Ruari Murchison, lighting by Tim Mitchell, virtuoso choreography by Robert North and direction by Bill Alexander, The Snowman is a heart-warming blend of dance, spectacular visuals, storytelling, stunning sets and music performed by a live orchestra.
