In summer, the weather is pleasant in places closer to Himalayas but as the distance increases the temperatures increase. Haridwar, Dehradun & Rishikesh are particularly hot during this time of the year, though most pilgrim tours are carried out during this time. Nainital is pleasant and receives the most visitors during this time.
During monsoon, the roads are prone to landslides and roads are risky. Cities such as Haridwar and Dehradun can be visited whereas places at higher altitudes may be avoided.
As the winters approach, river rafting season in Rishikesh begins and the area sees a number of tourist visits. The temperatures are particularly low and major tourism activities are observed. To enjoy snow one should head to Northern reaches of Uttarakhand.
