How To Reach Gujarat

Travel Options

By Air

Gujarat has a good network of airways, connecting to various national and international destinations. In fact, with 17 airports in total, it is a state with more domestic airports than any other Indian state. The region has one international airport, Sardar Vallabhbhai International Airport, located at Ahmedabad. The main cities which remain busy with in and out flying planes on a daily and weekly basis are at Surat, Vadodara, Bhuj, Keshod, Bhavnagar, Rajkot, Kandla and Junagarh. These places are easily accessible through most major cities of the country including New Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata. It usually takes 1-2 hours at the minimum to reach cities such as Ahmedabad, Rajkot or Gandhinagar via flights from Delhi, Mumbai or Chennai. Flying from Kolkata or Bengaluru may take much more time than that. Also, while most of these places in Gujarat can be reached through a non-stop flight from the major cities of India, some of them may only be accessible through connecting Gujarat flights which may require much more time than usual, making travelling by train or road a more convenient option. Transportation in gujarat

Travelling by bus around Gujarat is both cheap and comfortable, although a bit inconvenient and time consuming. Apart from being responsible for inter-state road transportation, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation is also the chief outlet for such transportation within the state. The corporation provides the following bus transit services in Gujarat: • Mofussil Services: It connects the important towns, cities and villages of Gujarat • Intercity Bus Service: This connects all the major cities of Gujarat like Surat, Vadodara, Veraval, Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Vapi. Other than these and the organization also offers services of interstate bus transport, parcel delivery services and some specialized transportation services for pilgrim, festivals or college tours. Apart from buses, renting a car with a driver is also a good option to travel to nearby places within Gujarat. This can prove to be a bit expensive, although very convenient and comfortable, both. Boarding a train is an alternative to it and is a much better option as far as cost, convenience and travel duration is concerned. To travel short distances, hiring a taxi or a cab service like Ola, Uber etc. is the best option other than the usual hailing for an auto-rickshaw.
