One can come to Gangtok by rail or by air and then drive to Lachung. Gangtok is well connected to all the major cities in India.
By Road
The only way to come to Lachung is by road. You can drive from the closest city of Gangtok. Gangtok is located only at a distance of 120 kms from the town of Lachung but it takes a drive through the mountainous terrain of 5 to 6 hours due to the rigid terrain of the route. But the drive through the hilly stretches is a breathtaking experience and provides some great views of the surrounding mountains and streams.
