How To Reach China

Travel Options

By Air

Traveling by air is the best way to reach China from India. There are many Chinese airline companies like Air China, China Southern, Hainan Airlines, China Eastern, and Shanghai Airlines that offer direct flights from India to China on a regular basis. They connect almost all the major cities in the country to the famous cities in China. From Delhi and Mumbai, you can board a direct flight to China. Whereas, if it is any other city, you need to take multiple flights or connecting flights to reach China. The prices are quite affordable too, depending on the period you booth them in. If you book the tickets in advance, you can save a lot of money, and you also won't have any hurry, because the tickets will be in your hands. Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Hong Kong are the most important hubs of China, where all the international flights land. There are four important airports in China; Nanyuan Airport and the Capital International Airport in Beijing, Hongqiao International Airport and the Pudong International Airport in Shanghai. Frequent flight names: Jet Airways, Air India, China Eastern, Singapore Airlines, China Southern, Emirates Airlines, and Qatar Airlines. Biggest airport: Capital International Airport in Beijing is the biggest airport in China.

By Train

There is no chance you can find any direct trains from India to China. However, if you still wish to travel to China by train from other areas, you can take a train from Kazakhstan, and also the Trans-Siberian Russian Express that runs through China. There are also trains to China from Moscow, Hanoi, and Pyongyang. If you are traveling to China from any of these places, then you can take a train and go there.

By Road

People from India are not allowed to travel China by road since the permits are closed owing to political issues. However, you can reach Pakistan and travel to the country from there via the Karakoram Highway that runs from Nepal via Tibet or from Vietnam. You can also reach by road from Laos or Myanmar. Irrespective of all these, you cannot travel from India to China directly by road, even if you have a visa.

By Sea

India and China do not share any water bodies, and hence you cannot reach China from India even by sea. However, there are some ferry services offered by tourists from Jpan, Korea, and other nearby places to enter China. They also provide some excellent cruise lines that will take you to China in a blink. However, if you wish to experience the cruise lining and water traveling, you need to reach the places by flight, and then take a cruise from there.

Transportation in china

Commuting within China

Except for the cities which have metro systems, local transport in China is not very efficient. The vehicles can be slow, overcrowded, and can confuse you a lot. So while you are in China, hiring a taxi is the best option. However, they can get a bit pricey. So, if you are okay with the crowd and confusion, you can opt for the local transportation in China, because they are relatively cheaper. In metro operating cities, opt for the metros without a second thought.
