How to Reach mauritania

If you are coming into the country by road, you need to enter by coming through Senegal, Mali or Western Sahara- all of which share a border with Mauritania. If you are coming from Western Sahara, you need to take the road that will take you near Nouadhibou, which is paved until you reach Fort Guerguarat. The best way to come into the country is from Mali because there are many more options. Some of the best ways to come are from the city of Nara, which connects with the Mauritanian city of Ayoun al Atrous. You can also take the road from Nema in Mali and end up in the city of Timbuktu in Mauritania. There are plenty of buses that come into the country from Senegal, Morocco and even from Mali. From Morocco you should head over to the Dakhla waterfront around midnight and from there you can catch a bus that will take you to the border city of Gargarate. Also, you can try to book passage with other people such as traders or people driving overland from the area. If you are coming from Senegal, you will need to hire one of their bush taxis, which can be hired from Dakar or St. Louis. From Rosso you will have to take a ferry across the Senegal River and then another bush taxi to Nouakchott.
