Taupo is located in the middle of the North Island; around three and a half hours drive from Auckland and four and a half hours from Wellington. There are daily domestic flights to and from Taupo airport, which is just eight kilometres from Taupo airport. Direct flights from Sydney, Australia are also available. Direct flights to Auckland and Wellington via Air New Zealand are available and the main bus stop is at the Taupo Travel Centre.
