By Air

Flight to Kathmandu are available from all the major cities of India. There are non-stop flight from Delhi and Mumbai, whereas Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Chennai have one stop flights. Travelling by air is the easiest way to reach Nepal, and the flights are readily available at affordable rates from New Delhi. All the major carriers have regular flights that will take you to the Nepal capital Kathmandu. Frequent flight names: Air India, Indigo, Jet Airways, SpiceJet, SilkAir. Biggest airport: Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.

By Road

There are many road routes to reach Nepal from India. You can take a flight to a few locations and take buses from there, or you can even board trains from Kolkata and take a road route from there. Overall, there are many road routes that take you to Nepali like from Varanasi to Kathmandu, Via the Sunauli Border Crossing, Raxaul Border Crossing, Panitanki Border Crossing, and the Banbasa Border Crossing. There are also direct buses that run from Varanasi to the Nepal border Bhairwai several times in a day. You can alternatively take a train from Delhi to Gorakhpur and then take a bus from there to Sunauli and then to Pokhara or Kathmandu. This is considered as the cheapest way to reach Nepal but will eat up lots of your time. A bus from Varanasi to Pokhara or Kathmandu is also a good option to enter Nepal. You can also take long drives from Delhi, but that is going to cost you more than two days to reach Nepal. Duration of Travel: It will take more than 24 hours no matter which road you prefer. Approximate cost per person: The bus tickets will cost you INR 2000-2500 approximately. If you travel by car, the prices will vary depending on the fuel rates. How to travel by road: The best way to reach is through the Sonauli border.

By Train

There is only one train that connects Nepal to India at the border of Uttar Pradesh, the Janakpur-Jayanagar train. This train is very rushy, and it is not recommended to take this train. Duration of travel: It will take you 14-15 hours approximately. Approximate cost per person: It will cost you INR 2000-3000 approximately.

Commuting within Nepal

Travelling within Nepal is one of the toughest challenges when you visit the country. The roads are not maintained properly, and the buses are crowded. However, there are tourist buses available from one place to another, or you can even hire a motorbike to ride. There are open-air bus stations that are available in most of the parts in Nepal, where you can catch a bus to reach your desired location. However, these rides cannot cost you more than INR 500-600 approximately. Alternatively, if you wish to spend a lot of money, you can take internal fights that will cost you around INR 5000-7000 approximately per ride.
