Places to visit in Cameroon

This monument is located near Bidzar village on the Maroua-Garoua road towards Guider. This archaeological site displays almost 500 engraved figures in total. The figures are mostly in geometrical shapes. It has been assumed that engraving represents some stories or ideas from myths or elaborates a cosmogony.

Located in the north west of Cameroon, it resides on the inner wall of the Bafochu Mbu caldera. There are numerous burial sites over here.

The Musée d'Aart Cmerounais in Yaoundé has a very good collection of traditional masks apart from items showing bronze and wood work. Some may appear scary but you will enjoy going through the collection.

While you are in Limbe, do not forget to visit the Botanical Gardens. It is the second-oldest botanical garden in Africa. This garden remains open from 8am to 6pm.

One of the major tourist attractions of the city of Foumban is the Palais Royal. It is the residence of the 19th sultan of the Bamoun dynasty who currently resides here. Inside the palace complex there is a well-organised museum which contains several of the previous sultans' possessions who belonged to this dynasty. A little bit knowledge of French can help you understand better about the history and culture of this region. It is open to public from 9am to 6pm.
