Places to Visit in Panama

Panama is blessed with scenic natural beauty in terms of rainforest highlands, shimmering beaches, splendid mountains, rivers and valleys full of biodiversity. TabogaIsland is the best destination for relaxing in Panama. You can take a ferry ride from Amador to TagobaIsland. There are provisions for night stay at TagobaIsland also. Other activities available here include snorkelling, take a boat ride to see Brown Pelican Reserves etc. Ancon hill is steep 654 foot hike but you get to see a spectacular view of Panama City from the top. It takes hardly 45 minutes to reach the top by foot. On the way to atop, you can see variety of flora and fauna including orchids. You can even take a boat trip for couple of hours through protected islands and enjoy the wildlife and monkey that come to you for snacks.

Panama is always booming with seasonal cultural activities. You can enjoy a lot during such events. Carnival is the biggest cultural event that is celebrated four days leading to Ash Wednesday. During this time the city gets ready for the music, dance, costumes, and parades. Easter Holy Week is also celebrated here. TagobaIsland has its own events during this time. On October 21, thousands of people come down to Portobelo for Black Christ Ceremony. In January there is a 10-day flower and coffee fair at Boquete. In December the entire country gets ready for celebration of Christmas.

It is located in old town and runs along the sea.  This wall was built as a major defence system by Spanish to protect the city from intruders coming from sea. An evening walk on Paseo Las Bovedas gives you complete scenic view of the old town as well as the modern city.

You cannot complete your tour without visiting Panama Canal. It is about 77 kilometres long and connects Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. It has a great history of construction and was completed in 1914 and since then it is working as a medium for international trades at Panama.

It is one of the famous monuments of Panama that was built as a tribute to around 20, 00,000 laborers who lost their life while constructing Panama Canal. You can see the panoramic view of Amador Causeway while walking around the park.

It is a non- profit, public museum built in 1997 at Miraflores Locks of Panama Canal. It takes you through the journey of construction of Panama Canal. It shows all the stages of it including the first attempt to make the Canal by French then U.S and later the Panamanian Government.

It is an ethnic type of museum that displays the history and culture of West Indian workers who worked as labourers during Panama Canal construction.

Around 70 to 80% of the population in Panama is Roman Catholic. The rest of the population has Bahai Faith community, Guaymi population, Jewish, Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims and other Christians. Therefore all type of religious places can be found here in Panama. The CathedralPlaza is one of the famous buildings found in Panama.
