Ujung Kulon National Park In Indonesia

Ujung Kulon National Park became a UNESCO world heritage site in the year 1991. Due to explosion of Krakatau volcano, which covered almost the entire area with a thick layer of volcanic ash, human habitation was eliminated from this region. The remaining lowland forest area accounts for a major portion of Java’s flora and fauna. Wildlife here includes Javan rhinoceros, which is an endangered species. Many other rare species of plants, birds and reptiles are found here. Mammals like Java mouse deer, Javan lutung, crab eating macaques, bantengs, rusa deer, Javan leopards and silvery gibbons can be seen here as well.
