How to Reach chiang rai

By Rail

The nearest train station is in Chiang Mai. There are buses plying to Chiang Rai from there.

By Air

Mae FahLuang-Chiang Rai International Airport is the nearest airport located in Phaholyotin Road, 8 kms from the centre of the city. Rental cars are available there will take you to your destination. You can catch a Nok Air, Air Asia or Thai Airways flight to Bangkok. There are also direct flights from China (Kunming) thrice a week.

By Road

Chiang Rai can be accessed from Bangkok via highways 1 and 32. From Chiang Mai you should take highway 118.

By Bus

There are two bus stations in Chiang Rai, the Old Bus Station (Bus Terminal 1) and the New Bus Station (Bus Terminal 2). You can get buses to Chiang Khong and Mae Sai from Terminal 1, buses for Bangkok from Terminal 2, and buses heading to Chiang Mai from both terminals.
