Aglona Basilica built at the end of 17th century met with a fire and burnt down in 1699. Again the wooden church was reconstructed in 1768 to 1780 into a stone masonry. The interiors were built during 18th and 19th century. An excellent collection of sculptures, paintings, artistic items including ‘Our Miraculous lady of Aglona’ icon are preserved. This church is one of the popular sacred sites in the world. St. Nicholas Maritime Cathedral in Liepaja, built in 1901 and again restored in 1990 has beautiful architecture with bulbous cupolas.
