Captain William Moore Cabin In Skagway

Captain William Moore cabin is one of Skagway’s oldest buildings and it dates back to 1887.  Captain William Moore was a steampship captain, a miner, a businessman, and also an explorer during the time of the gold rush that took place in the 1800's in Alaska and British Columbia. Captain Moore and his sons built the cabin and they were the first were the first homesteaders as well as the founder of the town. Captain Moore had to move his home to Skagway when stampeders of the gold-rush overran his homestead. The cabins are preserved in a perfect manner; and there are many informative signs to guide tourists. Captain William Moore cabin is one of the most popular tourist spot in Skagway and tourist from across the world flocks to visit this historic cabin.
