Fort Jerome In Daman And Diu

Fort Jerome is one of the best places to visit in Daman and Diu. Covering an area of about 12,250 sqmt, the fort of St Jerome, is located in Nani Daman, on the northern side of the Daman Ganga River. Named after St.Jerome, one of the most eminent fathers of the Catholic Church, this fort was built in 1627. Also known as Nani Daman Fort, it has two gateways and three bastions. The giant gateway which faces the river has a large statue of St Jerome and also two big human figures, on either side of the gateway. The principal building inside the fort is the imposing church of Our Lady of the Sea, one of the ancient seats of the office with a fine altar.
