National Monument symbolizes Indonesia’s struggle for freedom. This huge marble obelisk is 137 meters high and has a pure gold coated The Flame of Independence on the top. The National History Museum and a meditation hall (The Hall of Independence) are present at the base of the monument. From the observation deck at the top of the monument one can have a bird's eye view of the Jakarta city and the ocean.
