Weather – One of the best times to visit the city is during winter because the weather is cool and pleasant. People can enjoy sightseeing around the city without feeling sapped of energy as the heat is tolerable and there are fresh breezes as well. Winter is in fact the best time to see different aspects of the city as people venture out of their houses or rooms and enjoy the delightful weather by the Kankaria Lake.

Significance – There are museums and temples and wonderful places to visit and winter is the best time to do it. Ahmedabad during this time is an entirely different experience because of the many roadside stalls and open-air restaurants. There’s a lot of delicious food to be had here and you will find yourself unable to choose between khakra, fafda and khaman dhokla. A single taste of these will make you want to come back to the city again and again. One of the best places to indulge in your love for street food is Manek Chowk where you will be able to enjoy plenty of traditional food items from Gujarat.

Why you should visit now – Visiting Ahmedabad in winter is best because days are cool and pleasant, and nights are no longer stuffy and hot. It’s an overall enjoyable experience, made all the more special because of the many festivals that are celebrated here during this time. One of the most wonderful festivals you can take part in is the International Kite Festival called Uttarayan which is held in January and attracts visitors from all over the world. Once you enter Patang Bazaar, you will find yourself unable to leave as you look at the numerous colourful kites on display. Held only during winter, this is an added bonus that comes from visiting Ahmedabad in winter. There are really some amazing places to visit in Ahmedabad , so make sure to check it out

Things to know before the visit – Winter in Ahmedabad is cold and dry and at night it can get quite chilly. Thanks to the opportunity of visiting several heritage sites and temples during this time, winter months tend to be crowded with tourists coming from everywhere. In fact, during the kite festival, there are people from all over the world as well. The kite flying competition is open to everyone, so you can take part in it if you wish to. Flight tickets and accommodation prices shoot up during this time as a result. So, it’s a good idea to book ahead if you want to visit Ahmedabad during winter.

Tips – As winters are not very cold, make sure you carry some light sweaters or jackets with you as a precaution. A scarf or muffler might also help combat the biting winds at night. Nevertheless, it’s a good idea to dress in layers so you can make your outfit as warm or as cool as you need it to be. Your usual winter essentials such as lip balm and moisturisers will be of great help, so don’t forget to carry them along.

Ahmedabad In Summer (March to June)

Temperature –   The temperature during summer in Ahmedabad can get quite hot with lows of 25 and highs reaching a sweltering 48°C.

Weather – Summer in Ahmedabad can be quite scorching. However, early mornings and evenings might see the heat let up a little but during the day, it can get uncomfortably warm. In fact, May is one of the worst seasons to visit Ahmedabad because the temperature is highest during this month.

Significance – Wandering through the city is not at all advisable during summer months as there’s a good chance of getting a heatstroke. Even if that doesn’t happen, the heat tends to sap your energy so you will not feel like walking around anywhere. If you are looking for indoor activities, then you can make your way to the Calico Museum where you will get to see many beautiful textiles, both modern and ancient which is certainly fascinating.

Why you should visit now – Tourists who come here during this time might feel short changed because they cannot walk around the city and enjoy the streets. But they can leave early in the morning to Thol Lake and enjoy a spot of bird watching before the sun goes up. Nalsarovar is also a good place to visit during this time. The only pros of visiting Ahmedabad during summer is that the prices drop significantly as not many people want to come to the city in summer.

Things to know before the visit – If you have made plans to visit Ahmedabad in summer, then do come prepared for the blast of heat as soon as you step into the city. The only good thing about visiting in summer is that prices are at their lowest. Since tourists are not willing to come to the city during this time, hotel rates are slashed, and flights are quite affordable. For the budget traveller who is looking for a different sort of experience and doesn’t mind the heat too much, this might be a good thing.

Tips – The only way to survive summer in Ahmedabad is by drinking lots of water, bringing loads of sunscreen and making sure you wear light cotton clothes. Stay indoors as far as possible and make sure you also have sunglasses and a cap or hat to cover your head if you step outside.

Ahmedabad In Monsoon (July to September)

Temperature – With temperatures ranging between 25°C to highs of around 35°C, monsoon is a relatively cooler period of time in Ahmedabad.

Weather – Monsoon is a huge relief after the sweltering heat of the summer. But at the same time, humidity also goes up. Nevertheless, the cool rains are any day better than the heat of the summer. Rainfall can be either moderate or it can be a downpour that will soak you the moment you are caught in it. The wettest month is July and you can be sure that there will be rain all the time, so if you don’t like rain, then it’s best to avoid visiting during this month.

Significance – Monsoon in India is a feeling, an experience, a way of life that only those living in the Indian peninsula might understand. The feel of the cool rains as they wash away the heat of the summer, the drizzle in the mornings, the lashing mid-afternoon thunder showers, the way greenery springs up around you everywhere, these are the signs of monsoon that are evident here in Ahmedabad as well.

Why you should visit now – The air feels different after the cleansing rains. People like to go boating in the Kankaria Lake or even a quiet stroll along the Sabarmati riverfront. The vibe in the city is certainly different at this time. People enjoy visiting the Zanzari Waterfalls as they gush and flow only during the monsoons. The waterfall is a day’s trip from Ahmedabad. Monsoon is also the best time for some delicious snacks like roasted bhutta which can be found everywhere. This is also the time of Navratri and the sights everywhere are colourful and vibrant.

Things to know before the visit – The rains bring a respite from the summer heat and Ahmedabad seems to turn over a new leaf, as it is freshly washed by the rains. But bear in mind that it does tend to get sticky as well because of the humidity. If you’re not comfortable with humidity, you might want to rethink your plans. Hotel bookings and flight prices do tend to go up a little during this time as more people flock to the city during the monsoons, especially for Garba. So, if your monsoon plans are serious, then make sure you book your trip well in advance.

Tips – Ideally you should bring the right sort of rainy-day gear with you such as umbrellas, raincoats and boots if you are visiting Ahmedabad during the monsoons. Also, make sure you carry mosquito repellent with you as mosquitoes and monsoons tend to go together no matter where you are in India.
