Places to Visit in Coimbatore

Narayana Kavi Memorial was consecrated as a tribute to Poet called NarayanaKavi. This memorial exhibits the poet’sphotographs and writings associated with historic events belonging to various spheres like Music, Cinema and Drama.

This is a picturesque locale in the Anamalai Hills. It is located about 37 kms from Pollachi and about 90 km from Coimbatore. For the adventurer in you try the Bungalows that are available within the sanctuary. If you are interested in a little bit of thrill, you can try the aommodation available in tree houses.

This project consists of a number of dams that are interconnected by tunnels. There are canals too which are used for harnessing the waters of the , Aliyar, ParambikulamSholiyar, Palar, Thunakadavu and Thekkadi rivers. These rivers flow at various elevations and are used for irrigation purposes and power generation.

The scheme, located in Annamalai range is a classic example of engineering skill and is ideal as a picnic spot. There is a forest rest house where an overnight stay is possible. There are treetop housesthat provide accommodation in case you are looking for some adventure.

The Solaiyar Dam is situated 15 kms from Valparai. This dam is extremely popular as it is considered to be the second largest rock dam in Asia. The length of this dam is roughly 20 kms.

This temple is situated close toPerur. The local legend says that long ago the main town was once located around this temple. Today one can see the ruins of the original city around this temple.

This temple was built in 1996 housing Asia's largest idol of Ganeshawhich stands imposingly.

Situated between Palakkad and Pollachi, the temple is situated about 45 to 50 km. from Coimbatore. The popular belief is that if red chilly paste is applied on the presiding deity the lost valuables will be restored.

Marudhamalai HillTemple is among the most renowned attractions. This temple is dedicated to  Lord Shiva.

There is a Crocodile Farm at Amaravathi Dam just 25 kms. from Coimbatore. This place is being developed as a District Excursion Centre.

There is also the Zoo which is situated in close proximity and you would see a wonderful collection of animals and birds there. It is a wonderful experience if you wish to take your children out.
